Sanofi Hopes to Receive new Data for Acomplia by the end of 2008 to 2010
6 Aug 2007
The French pharmaceutical giant Sanofi-Aventis
anticipates to have new clinical data for its revolutionary diet
drug by the end of 2008 to 2010, which in turn, may strengthen its
prospects of attaining the FDA approval to sale anti-obesity drug
Acomplia in the United States under the new brand name "Zimulti".
"We are expecting outcomes from the continuing
studies in diabetes by the end of 2008 or at the beginning of 2009,
but the long-run findings from the Crescendo study would come out
in 2010" declared Pharmaceuticals head Hanspeter Spek.
Despite of the fact that Acomplia has been rebuffed by the U.S.
FDA's advisory panel in June, Spek affirmed that the FDA is ready
to re-evaluate the medication once the new trial data is proposed
